The Somnambulists
The Somnambulists is a “kinographic novel,” a series of drawings, with inter-titles and music, a hybrid of the graphic novel and early silent cinema. The story is set in the year 2047 (“twentyfourseven”) in Lunacity, an underground city on the moon where a new drug, Somnambula, allows people to stay awake all the time. Nobody sleeps, but everyone sleepwalks. Bruno Flowers, a former circus performer, has gone there in search of the other member of his act, a boy named Falcis, who mysteriously vanished. Bruno’s search for Falcis brings him in contact with Gary Kali, the inventor of Somnambula, a man who appears to be able to control others with his mind. |
