New & Used is a film about a dodgy car dealer in the 1970’s who hatches up a scam to make more money, by selling one of his cars over and over again. One summers day in January 1975 English Doctor Charlie Barrington (who has just migrated to Australia) walks into McKnight’s car yard and spots a gold 1972 Mercedes Benz in pristine condition. The car yard owner Bruno Knight gives the sales pitch and in no time Charlie has bought the car.

The film revolves around the life of a still photographer, Kushal, who is smitten by the beauty of his own photographs but has failed to make any work in his professional zone. Stationed in Kolkata, he struts around somewhat aimlessly clicking pictures at random on the streets, by lanes, market places, parks & all other notable hot spot according to his changing preferences. Philosophical by nature he tries to find his real identity in his photographs & gets chided almost vehemently by his girl friend every time he fails to perform on bed. She calls him a failure & has labelled his photographs as perfects examples of intellectual trash. His life moves with a quiet disdain and he feels stripped of all kinds of hope within the four walled existence of his studio apartment.
