Jonathan and Miguel leave LA and return to a wintry Ohio to tend to Jonathan’s ill mother. However, going to Jonathan’s family farm house near Columbus comes at a difficult time. Miguel, writer of a daytime soap, tries to keep his sleepwalking a secret as he struggles with the aftermath of a traumatic assault. Maya, their 16 year old daughter, faces her demons with drugs and announces to her Dad’s she wants to quit school and pursue a singing career. At the same time Jonathan, a successful sports reporter, takes on the difficult task of dealing with a dying parent while his reoccurring anxiety attacks take their toll. Then one morning a mysterious woman jumps of a bridge killing herself and manila envelopes containing VHS tapes begin to show up at the farmhouse front door. Delivered anonymously the tapes slowly uncover past secrets which may shatter the foundation of their 20 year relationship.

It is a "bio-horror" thriller not dependent on cheap scares but rather what is rooted in innate human fears of being infected with something or someone out of our control.

After the world is taken over by a zombie epidemic society rebuilds itself in a way where the rich can afford to be treated for the virus, but the poor die in the streets. A task force known as "The Guard" is in place to battle the dead and protect society.
