Behind The Silence
Silvio Katz is 49 years old. He works as a cook in the kitchen of a poor school from the Buenos Aires province. He had a harsh past. He fought at the Falklands War and suffered torture at the hands of an anti-Semitic sub-lieutenant. Silvio kept silent for many years but something happened in his life which led him to speak up and after 30 years of silence his story finally came to light, became famous and caught the whole of society’s attention. Behind Silvio’s silence there is a family story: a father who survived the Holocaust and a tradition to keep silent in the face of traumatic situations. Nonetheless, Silvio opts for a different path to lead his life and he tells us his terrible story along his hardships’ companion: war veteran Roque Arrieta inviting us to think over the silence kept by victims of torture who have survived these situations. |
