BRUMAIRE
Brumaire, in the French revolutionary calendar, is the month of mist and fog. From Emile Zola’s Germinal to Brumaire, a cycle of industrial and social history is completed. The very last French coal mine shut down ten years ago. And over the past ten years everything has changed. A former miner is taking us into his deepest memories, through darkness of mine galleries, smell, work, sweat, comrades, social struggles, and the final closure. Emptiness. The younger generation was born out of those ruins, in another world, on a forgotten land, in Lorraine region. Nowadays, workers are denied collective strength, threatened by unemployment, trapped in precarious jobs, and open to far-right political ideas With no dreams. How could a working class land, where the blood of major union struggles used to flow, end up brought down by a faceless enemy ? |

MY 89 GENERATION
MY 89 GENERATION is a crowd-sourcing documentary film, that consists of footage recorded by the characters of the movie themselves: young people born after 1989 (the year when "communism" in Poland ended and the democracy won). We asked them to send us their own films about their lives in different than their parents reality. Out of tens of hours of footage we have chosen our seven main characters, young people striving for their dreams while living through their first loves, betrayals and breakups. These are the stories of Wojtek, Ela, Mikolaj, Martyna, Adam, Lukasz and Malgosia. They are all passion-driven people, who want to make their dreams come true, they seek for love and ways to express their affections and emotions, although they do not always know how to do it properly. |
Picturing War
Which pictures do we get to see? In a world of modern mass communication and a never ending stream of pictures, this question is more important than ever. Which conflict is worth reporting? Which war might interest the consumers of media outlets? And how do pictures travel from around the globe, from zones of conflict to the european and worldwide public? These questions are the central message of our movie „BilderKrieg“, which is best translated as „War of Pictures“. We want to follow the brave people who chose to become war photographers, show how they gather the pictures we might see one day on the title of a big newspaper – or not. |

This is the story of a group that had everything going for them, but managed to turn every opportunity into another disastrous cautionary tale. This film follows Stopper from the vibrant early 90s punk scene to the substance abuse that destroys them, eventually leading to a life sentence for the singer in Georgia's most violent maximum security prison. 'Stopper: The Rise and Fall of the Bastard Squad' is a drug fueled tale of youth subculture run amok. |
