OFFICIAL SELECTIONS
Melodic Moksha
An experimental stop frame short film built from 950 still frame shots. "Moksha" is the end of the death and rebirth cycle and is classed as the fourth and ultimate artha (goal). It is the transcendence of all arthas. It is achieved by overcoming ignorance and desires. It is a paradox in the sense that overcoming desires also includes overcoming the desire for moksha itself. It can be achieved both in this life and after death. - freedom / liberation / music / moksha WATCH NOW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZxf6d8aqPw |
Wind, Stone and Women
A white piece of thread, carried by the wind, leaves a trace in the air. A breeze of wind hovering in circles, a stone left alone on an island, The air, tinged with the scent of a woman lingering in her own place. And we, human, gather around in that place to pass down the story of our existence over and over again. |
Ridden by Nature
“Ridden by Nature”, is a film about humanities encounter with the Natural world in her most extreme, critical state. It is a culmination a ten-year collaborative relationship between filmmaker and creator, Kathi Von Koerber and butoh master Atsushi Takenouchi. Kathi Von Koerber began producing the film in 2004, joining forces with popular wildlife documentarian James Ewan (creator of EarthMedia), to document live butoh dance, performed on some of the harshest and most remote areas in the United States, including Colombia Glacier in Alaska, Red Rocks in Moab, Utah; and lava geysers in MacKenzie State Recreation Area in Hawaii. |

The Banisher of Thought
"The Banisher of Thought" is an experimental documentary about the ancient and obscure musical instrument known as a jew’s harp, exploring its latent capacity for unifying seemingly disparate groups of the people in a universal human ancestry. Juxtaposing the province of Rajasthan in India with eastern Norway, the film is meditativ and minimalist search for the primordial space where musical inspiration emerges. Cinema is thus engaged as technology for observing the inherent mystery that surrounds and saturates daily life, and in so doing, positions so called ordinary reality on the threshold of supernatural time. |
